Tonight, my pastor preached on some of the failures of Christians. Of course, there is nothing new under the sun, but he made some very interesting and thought provoking points.
1. Shallowness of the things of God.
Most Christians today know very little of the stories and doctrines of the Bible.
This shallowness comes from not knowing Who God really is. We do not realize Who we have access to.
The Bible will become more important to us, and we will want to read and study it when we move past our shallow desires.
2. Being inconsistent in our Christian life.
There are no shortcuts in serving God. We must work at it.
3. When we "shut off the bowels of mercy and compassion" towards others.
We should seek to do things for others. To help those in need.
4. An unsurrendered life.
God wants us. He wants to fellowship with us and to love us. But, we must give ourselves to Him.
